Our nation is about to penalize those who kept us safe. This comes on the heels of questionable policy shifts within the Department of Homeland Security.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano's recent DHS report should concern all West Virginians. This Homeland Security memo directs local police agencies to keep an eye on returning military veterans, Christians and Americans with traditional beliefs and respect for the U.S. Constitution. Why? Because they are potential terrorists.
Obama's secretary of Homeland Security refuses to call acts of terrorism what they are, but wants local police authorities to watch American citizens. Who are these dangerous individuals? The Obama administration is afraid of citizens who are pro-life, are returning from military duty, support the Second Amendment and gun ownership, support lower taxes, support limited government, are concerned about the economy, or oppose illegal immigration.
There are quite a few West Virginians who qualify! Many of these folks probably voted for Obama's opponent in the last election, but does this make them a security risk? Is this an attempt to stigmatize or intimidate political opponents, or worse?
The world is full of totalitarian regimes which imprison political opponents. That is why the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is so important to maintain American freedoms.
Secretary Napolitano should resign or retract with apology this ridiculous Homeland Security watch list and recognize that her so-called "man-made catastrophes" are "acts of terrorism" committed by our true enemies ... real "terrorists." That would go far in keeping us safe, if that is truly the goal.
