LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Candidate makes right impression on voter

At 4:30 p.m. on July 25 my doorbell rang and Cindy Frich was at my door handing out fliers for her re-election. She shook my hand and in so doing became the first politician to shake my hand since John Kennedy in 1960.

Her half empty bottle of water and sweaty hand said she had been campaigning in earnest. I have never seen an actual candidate do this. I was impressed and saddened.

As we talked I kept thinking there is no way I can vote for her. Her association with Don Blankenship was still bothering me and kept me from voting for her last time. I didn't discuss this with her because I really like her and such a topic had no merit.

As we said good-bye she walked to the next house and I got halfway through the house and realized she was listening to me and asking me questions. What sort of deal is this? A candidate for state office asking me what I thought.

I am used to my party telling the state and federal candidates what to say and how to vote. I don't know what she is up to but she will get one vote: mine!
