Republican presidential candidate John McCain rode the "Straight Talk Express" campaign bus into Washington, Pa., last weekend to address a crowd gathered at the Consol Energy Park.
Cindy Frich, a candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates 44th District, attended the John McCain/Sarah Palin Road to the Convention Rally on Aug. 30.
Frich, a former West Virginia House of Delegates member and current West Virginia State Republican Executive Committeewoman, said about 10,000 people were at the rally, some waving yellow towels with the word "McCain" printed on them — similar to the "Terrible Towels" fans wave at Pittsburgh Steelers football games.
McCain, running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Pittsburgh Steeler Lynn Swann all spoke at the rally.
Frich said she was pleased Palin was chosen as McCain's running mate, and that McCain seemed more energetic at the recent rally than he had at previous ones.
"I've never felt so much electricity in a crowd before," she said.
