I am assuming that most people got these mailings that I am talking about. There was a lastminute barrage of tasteless brochures that were sent out by the state's Democratic Executive Committee (and friends). Starting about a week before the election, one of these brochures showed up in the mail each day, each was different but with the same intense, heavy-handed message that vilified Frich. The brochures were obviously of professional caliber — big, glossy, colorful. But they were almost lurid, and hateful, full of innuendo and personal attacks, seeming to say that Frich was a danger to the body politic, and must not be re-elected.
Why this lone Republican in our delegation to the Legislature was so threatening I don't know, but the Democrats went through a lot of trouble and expense to get her. In fact, the timing, intensity, and similarity of the brochures suggest a coordinated attack. One could not escape the conclusion that this was a real "hitjob/". Get Cindy.
And they did. She lost the election.
One has to wonder what kind of lust for power motivates the Democrats to make this kind of attack. Frich has been a pretty good delegate. Unlike some of our delegates, she is very involved in the work of government. She is conscientious and pretty much her own person, with no strong ties to any group. She has been vocal and assertive in the Legislature, attended all the sessions, was accessible and up-to-date on pressing issues and often attended local public meetings. Local people often called on her when they wanted to know what was going on in the Legislature. She certainly did not deserve the kind of insulting and humiliating treatment that she got.
So now we have four Democrat clones in there, each voting the same party line, with no worry, about a different or dissenting voice. Has democracy been served? Does everybody feel better?
