I can't believe that he hasn't known about this proposal for years. The power companies were making presentations at least 2 1/2 years ago, to the Legislature, about the power line.
When I was serving Monongalia County's 44th House District, I asked extensive questions, in public, about the proposed power line. I asked if its main path would route through Fort Martin or Longview power plants. I was told "no". I asked if it would route through Monongalia County. I was told that it would just miss my district, but cut through the counties that do comprise Hunter's district. My impression was that these smaller rural counties were anticipating the power line to be among their largest taxpayers
I wonder what kind of questions Hunter, D-Monongalia, asked the power companies, how many of his constituents he alerted, and how many complaints he raised more than two years ago, instead of waiting until today He appears to be casting blame everywhere except upon himself
At the time. I represented my constituents the best I could; what did he do? What has the rest of our delegation been doing?
The same year, I was the only member of the House of Delegates to vote against Gov. Joe Manchin's proposal to expand private power plants' power of eminent domain. The only senator to vote against the bill was from Kanawha County. Of course, I am no longer elected to protect my constituents, and the massive power line has now been rerouted to run through ihe center of Monongalia County.
When I was serving Monongalia County, I made certain that the "powers that be" never took my concerns for my district for granted, I thought that was my job. What sort of representation do we have now?
