Three state legislators were defeated in their primary races last night: Republican Sen. Frank Deem of Wood County, Democratic Sen. Randy White of Webster County, and Democratic Delegate Tom Louisos of Fayette County.

In the Democratic race for the 13th Senate District, former Morgantown mayor Ron Justice got 51 percent of the vote against Delegate Bob Beach - even though Justice had dropped out of the contest because of heart problems. Beach will face former delegate Cindy Frich in November.
Sen. Erik Wells, survived attack as to beat hih challengers.
Senate Majority Leader Truman Chafin, D-Mingo, held off a challenge from County Commissioner "Hootie" Smith.
Delegate Jeff Eldridge, D-Lincoln, was unsuccessful in his bid to take the seat of Sen. Ron Stollings of Boone County.
